To sweep a chimney, you will need a chimney brush, a chimney sweep’s rod, and a vacuum cleaner. First, make sure that the fireplace is cool and that there are no embers remaining. Then, attach the chimney brush to the end of the chimney sweep’s rod. Next, insert the brush into the chimney and use the rod to move the brush back and forth, scrubbing the sides of the chimney to remove any soot and debris. As you work, use the vacuum cleaner to suction up any debris that falls down the chimney. Continue until the entire chimney has been swept.
