About Us
Certified Chimney Sweeps and Certified Dryer Duct Exhaust Technicians
The primary job of a chimney service professional is to aid in the prevention of fires related to fireplaces, wood stoves, gas, oil and coal heating systems and the chimneys that serve them. Certified Chimney Sweeps install, clean and maintain these systems, evaluate their performance, prescribe changes to improve their performance, and educate the consumer about their safe and efficient operation.
Chimney Sweeps and Dryer Duct Exhaust Technicians are certified through the Chimney Safety Institute of America or http://www.CSIA.org. All Chimney Department technicians are certified.
About the Chimney Department, Ltd.
As a result of the destruction caused by chimney and dryer vent fires, the Chimney Department, Ltd. began as a one-man chimney sweep operation in 1980. As sole owner and operator, and career firefighter, Dieter Bove’ had seen first hand, the damage these types of fires can cause. He realized that chimney fires started because there was a void of information on chimney and fireplace maintenance and safety, for both homeowners and firefighters. By 1985 the Chimney Department became a local authority on the installation and maintenance of solid fuel appliances.
By 2006 the Chimney Department grew to five employees and an excellent reputation among customers for great work, fair pricing and superior professionalism. Today the Chimney Department’s service crew has 65 years of combined skill as certified chimney professionals and professional certified firefighters.
